Russian troops are making significant advances in the city of Selidovo, and the situation for the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) has worsened considerably over the weekend. Ukrainian military personnel warn that only one supply route remains under their control — the highway to Pokrovsk from the west.
A fighter with the call sign "Mucnoy" reports on the enemy's advance into the city from the north, east, and south. The Russians have not yet reached the high-rises in the city center where the main UAF fortifications are located. There are attempts by the Russian Armed Forces to reach the Solenaya River east of the village of Vishnevoe in order to gain control over the last road leading into Selidovo from Pokrovsk.
"If they succeed, they will only have about half a kilometer to go. This would put the UAF garrison in a surrounded position," — claim Russian military correspondents.
"Mucnoy" confirms this information: assaults have begun in Vishnevoe to the west of Selidovo, aiming to cut the city off from Pokrovsk. Artillery is constantly active there, and aircraft are frequently heard taking off.
Lieutenant "Alex" confirms the enemy's success in the private sector in the eastern part of Selidovo, with an offensive ongoing towards the city center. This advance has been facilitated by their previous successes on the flanks.
"They are storming exclusively with infantry, scurrying from house to house like cockroaches," — he described the situation.
At the same time, a fighter from the 24th Separate Assault Brigade "Aidar," Stanislav Bunyatov, directly speaks about the occupation of half of Selidovo.
"I think the reasons for such a collapse are clear... There is simply no one to hold the defense, small groups of occupiers are penetrating through positions, and if they meet resistance, they bypass it," — writes he.
The city is surrounded from the north, south, and east, which threatens its fall, similar to what happened in Uglidar. The Russian Armed Forces have entrenched themselves in the private sector, employing small group tactics and gradually advancing towards the city center, notes expert from the "Information Resistance" group Alexander Kovalenko.
Simultaneously, with the increasing pressure on Selidovo, to the south of the highway to Pokrovsk, the Russians have moved to intense fighting in the area of Lysovka. Kovalenko observes that the UAF is wearing down Russian forces during the defense, but currently lacks opportunities for a counteroffensive.
The likelihood of Selidovo's occupation is currently assessed by co-founder of the DeepState project Roman Pogorely as "50/50." Flanking attacks are an effective tactic and the "Achilles' heel" of the UAF, which has recently led Ukrainians to witness the fall of Uglidar.
Pressure on the UAF from the flanks near the city of Selidovo in the Donetsk region, where the defense is held by the 15th Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine, Kara-Dag.
"Overall, there is a large grouping of Russian Armed Forces near Pokrovsk, up to 70,000 soldiers. They are utilized in battles quite sensibly, with well-trained personnel. Constant rotations are taking place: some are going into attacks while others await replacement. There is powerful artillery and air support. I don’t want to speak about the fall of Selidovo; everything depends on the situation," — he briefly explained.
The capture of Selidovo would allow the Russian Armed Forces to advance south of Pokrovsk and encircle it from the south. Fresh data from the General Staff of the UAF indicates that the occupiers are most active in the Pokrovsk direction, and the situation near Selidovo is particularly tense.
There have been 26 attempts to displace the UAF from their positions in the areas of Selidovo, Mirolyubovka, Lucha, and Lysovka. Almost half of all clashes have occurred near Selidovo.
We recall that Russian troops are also advancing south of Chasovoy Yar, with only 7 kilometers remaining to reach Konstantinovka. Ukrainian forces maintain control over Chasovoy Yar.
