In Kharkiv, a man was arrested after attacking two people with a knife and threatening to blow everything up.

Kharkiv police have apprehended a man for attempting to murder two individuals.

This information was reported by the communications department of the Main Directorate of the National Police of Ukraine in the Kharkiv region, as conveyed by "Dumka".

According to the police, on November 3 at approximately 19:15, officers were informed that two men were attacked on Dmytro Antonenko Street.

During a joint walk in the Shevchenkivskyi district, a 27-year-old man attacked his 20-year-old acquaintance with a knife, inflicting at least four knife wounds to his face. A 27-year-old classmate of the attacker intervened, stopping the assailant, but he sustained knife wounds to his neck and arms.

Upon returning home, the man began to attack his mother with an axe. The woman managed to escape outside, while her son barricaded himself in the apartment and threatened to blow everything up.

Police from the district department, along with a special unit, detained the assailant.

It was revealed that the man had been registered at a psychiatric institution for 8 years.

The investigator has opened criminal proceedings under part 2 of article 15, paragraph 1 of part 2 of article 115 (attempted intentional murder of two persons) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. On November 4, the suspect was informed of the charges related to the aforementioned crime.

A petition has been submitted to the court for the imposition of a preventive measure in the form of detention.
