India has repatriated 85 of its citizens who were deceitfully recruited by Russia to fight against Ukraine. Meanwhile, at least two dozen individuals remain in the Russian army.
This was stated by India's Foreign Minister Vikram Misri, as reported by RBK-Ukraine citing IndiaTV.
"Approximately 85 people have returned from Russia and, unfortunately, we have also repatriated the remains of individuals (deceased Indians - ed.) who lost their lives during the conflict. About 20 people are still there, and we are pressuring our counterparts to release all remaining servicemen," the minister said.
He added that Indian diplomats are maintaining close contact with representatives of the Russian Foreign Ministry and the Ministry of Defense regarding Indians who were "illegally or otherwise involved in combat operations" within the Russian army.
"This issue has been discussed at the highest level, including between Prime Minister Modi and President Putin," Misri concluded.
Recall that last month, in September, India repatriated 45 of its citizens who had been recruited to fight against Ukraine.
