The Greenpeace organization for Central and Eastern Europe has criticized the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) for its lack of proactive measures to ensure the protection of Ukrainian nuclear power plants during missile attacks from Russia. This statement was issued by Greenpeace Central and Eastern Europe, as reported by UNN.

Environmentalists expressed concern over the absence of practical steps taken by the IAEA, despite prior agreements. Back in September, the agency’s director general, Rafael Grossi, agreed to expand inspections to include substations that frequently become targets of Russian shelling.

It is noted that despite the agency's promises, only six days of inspections have taken place over the past three months, with the last one occurring in October 2024. During this period, Russia carried out two massive strikes, threatening the stability of the Ukrainian energy system and the safety of nuclear facilities.

The environmental organization urged the agency to immediately fulfill its commitments and take measures to protect Ukrainian nuclear power plants, which are constantly at risk due to Russia's aggressive actions.
