The Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, has dismissed Defense Minister Yoav Gallant. The reason cited was "a lack of mutual trust."
This information was reported by RBK-Ukraine referencing The Times of Israel.
According to reports, Foreign Minister Israel Katz will replace Gallant, and the new head of the Foreign Ministry will be Minister without Portfolio Gideon Sa'ar.
"Unfortunately, while there was trust and very productive work in the initial months of the war, this trust has eroded between me and the Defense Minister in recent months," Netanyahu noted.
According to the Israeli Prime Minister, they failed to reach an agreement on the management of the war, and Gallant made decisions and statements that contradicted the cabinet's decisions.
"I made many attempts to bridge these gaps, but they continued to widen. They also became known to the public in an unacceptable manner, and, worse still, they became known to the enemy. Our enemies took advantage of this and benefited greatly from it," Netanyahu added.
He also mentioned that the majority of government members agreed with his decision.
It is worth noting that today it was revealed that the former press secretary of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been detained due to accusations of "leaking" classified military documents to journalists.
This could jeopardize negotiations for the return of hostages currently held by Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
