A deferral from mobilization can be granted for a number of legitimate reasons. It is important to timely gather the necessary documents to confirm the right to it.
Who is entitled to a deferral from mobilization and what documents need to be collected to formalize this right are detailed in the material from RBK-Ukraine below.
Mobilization laws provide several grounds under which a citizen may receive a deferral.
Health status: citizens with serious illnesses or temporary health limitations may receive a deferral. The list of diseases that qualify for a deferral is approved by the government.
Education and study: students enrolled in full-time programs at universities or technical schools may receive a deferral for the duration of their studies. This also applies to postgraduate and doctoral students.
Family circumstances: men who have dependents, such as minor children, a disabled person, or a spouse with a disability, may also receive a deferral. The presence of three or more minor children in the family is also taken into account.
Employment in certain sectors: employees in priority sectors for the country, such as the defense industry, healthcare, education, and agriculture, are entitled to a deferral. The employer must confirm that the employee holds a critically important position.
Gather the necessary documents that confirm your grounds for a deferral. Depending on the category, these may include medical certificates, statements from educational institutions, birth certificates of children, disability certificates, employment history extracts, or work certificates.
Contact the military enlistment office with an application for a deferral. You must have your passport, military ID, and pre-prepared documents with you.
Undergo a medical commission. If the deferral is due to health reasons, you will need to undergo an additional medical examination conducted by the military enlistment office.
Receive a decision. After reviewing all documents and, if necessary, the medical conclusion, the military enlistment office will make a decision regarding the granting or denial of the deferral.
Medical certificate - for deferral due to health status.
Certificate from the educational institution - for students, postgraduates, and doctoral candidates.
We remind you that in Ukraine, educational workers are entitled to a deferral from mobilization. However, this does not mean that it is granted to everyone or that education workers cannot be called up.
In addition, those liable for military service who are entitled to a deferral must provide all necessary documents for this purpose. In such cases, they will not serve.
