Ukrainian human rights activist, journalist, public figure, and serviceman Maksym Butkevych has been released from Russian captivity. He spent over two years in the occupiers' dungeons.

This information was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing ZMINA.

The publication states that it received the relevant information from Butkevych's father.

Recall that Butkevych was captured by Russians in July 2022 in the Luhansk region while defending Ukraine with arms against the occupiers.

The so-called Donbas court sentenced Butkevych to 13 years in a strict regime colony, finding him guilty of "cruel treatment of civilians and using prohibited methods in armed conflict." Additionally, the occupiers accused Butkevych of "attempted murder of two individuals in a dangerous manner and intentional damage to someone else's property in a dangerous manner."
