On the night of October 22, Russians launched an attack on Ukraine using "Shahed" type strike drones and other unidentified drones. A total of 60 enemy drones were detected in Ukrainian airspace, which were launched from Russian territory.
This information was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing the press service of the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The defense against this attack was provided by aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare (EW) units, and mobile fire groups of the Air Forces and Defense Forces of Ukraine.
As a result of the successful efforts of Ukrainian units, 42 enemy drones were shot down in the Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk, Cherkasy, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kyiv, Kherson, and Kharkiv regions.
The highest number of drones was shot down in the Sumy region; however, unfortunately, there are casualties among the civilian population.
Additionally, 10 Russian drones were lost locally - one flew to Belarus, while three returned to Russian territory. One drone remains in Ukrainian airspace.
On the night of October 22, Russian occupiers carried out yet another attack on Ukraine, employing ballistic missiles and strike drones.
During the mass air alert, powerful explosions were heard in Sumy. Enemy projectiles hit residential areas of the city, causing destruction. As a result of the attack, three people were killed.
