On Sunday, January 26, U.S. President Donald Trump held a phone conversation with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer. The two discussed personal matters, politics, and the relationship between their countries.
This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing the website of the British government.
Trump began by expressing his condolences to Starmer regarding the loss of his brother. In turn, the British Prime Minister thanked the U.S. President for his kind words and congratulated him on his inauguration.
"The Prime Minister acknowledged President Trump's role in securing a significant ceasefire agreement and the release of hostages in the Gaza Strip. The President welcomed the release of Emily Damari and sent his best wishes to her family. They discussed the importance of working together to ensure security in the Middle East," the statement said.
Additionally, the parties discussed trade and economic issues, with Starmer explaining how Britain is deregulating its economy to stimulate growth.
During the phone call, the leaders of the two nations emphasized the importance of close and warm ties between Britain and the U.S., with Trump expressing his respect and affection for the royal family.
At the end of their conversation, the main representatives of both countries agreed to meet soon and expressed hope for further discussions.
It is worth noting that recently Donald Trump told reporters that his first foreign visit could be to Saudi Arabia or Britain. In response to a question, he also announced that he would have a conversation with Starmer within 24 hours.
