The elected President of the United States, Donald Trump, has selected a candidate for the position of White House Press Secretary. This individual comes from his previous administration.
This was reported by RBK-Ukraine, citing Axios.
According to the publication, Trump has named Caroline Levitt as the candidate for this role. She served as the national press secretary for his campaign.
Additionally, the 27-year-old Levitt was previously an assistant press secretary during Trump's first term in the White House.
It is known that in 2022 she ran for Congress from New Hampshire but lost to the incumbent Democratic senator.
In announcing his choice on Friday, Trump described Levitt as smart and tough, stating that she has "proven herself to be a very effective communicator."
"I am absolutely confident that she will excel at the podium and help convey our message to the American people, as we want to make America great again," he added.
It is expected that Trump’s new administration will challenge traditions in the famous James Brady press briefing room. The publication notes that while the White House Correspondents' Association controls the seating arrangements during daily briefings, the White House defines the powers of the press secretaries.
Axios also reports that the elected president has made disparaging traditional media a key document of his campaign, frequently highlighting "fake news" or specific media outlets at his rallies.
Moreover, the reshuffling of press secretaries will reflect Trump's inclination towards friendly podcasters, YouTube bloggers, and social media influencers.
Recall that Donald Trump recently announced that North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum will lead two positions in his administration. This includes the Department of the Interior and the new U.S. National Energy Council.
