In Kharkiv, authorities apprehended "businessmen" involved in counterfeiting premium alcohol.

In the Kharkiv region, law enforcement and prosecutors have documented the criminal activities of two men who sold counterfeit products disguised as well-known brands.

This was reported by the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office, as conveyed by "Dumka".

According to investigators, since the beginning of 2024, two unemployed men aged 38 and 40 set up two underground workshops in Kharkiv, where they produced counterfeit alcoholic beverages without adhering to any requirements or standards.

The perpetrators sold the products made from substandard raw materials, packaged in tetra packs, throughout Kharkiv and the surrounding area via retail and wholesale channels, posing as famous brands.

During the searches, police discovered and seized over 2,900 liters of illegally produced alcoholic drinks valued at more than 300,000 UAH, specialized equipment, shipping documents, rough notes, packaging containers, food additives, and mobile phones.

Based on the results of the conducted forensic examinations and other investigative (search) actions, a decision will be made regarding notifying the involved individuals of their suspicion.

A pre-trial investigation is underway for criminal proceedings concerning the illegal manufacture, storage for the purpose of sale, transportation, and sale of illegally produced excise goods (Part 1 of Article 199, Part 1 of Article 204 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
