The United States is preparing for a potential hacking attack from China, specifically targeting critical infrastructure networks.

This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing Reuters.

According to the publication, the executive director of the U.S. Cyber Command, Morgan Adamski, stated that cyber operations linked to China are aimed at gaining an advantage in the event of a major conflict with the U.S.

Officials have specifically warned that China-linked hackers have compromised IT networks and have taken steps to conduct destructive attacks in case of conflict.

Adamski mentioned that the U.S. government is "engaging in globally synchronized activities, both offensive and defensive in nature, focused on undermining and disrupting China's cyber operations worldwide." He noted that among the public examples are the exposure of operations, sanctions, accusations, law enforcement actions, and cybersecurity consultations involving many countries.

At the same time, China denies conducting cyber operations against American organizations.

Earlier, RBK-Ukraine reported that Chinese hackers breached Verizon's system. Following this, their attacks targeted the phones of individuals from Kamala Harris's campaign headquarters. At that time, media reported that the hackers who breached Verizon's system targeted the phones of people associated with the presidential campaign of Democratic candidate Kamala Harris.
