Currently, there are discussions about 20 hours without electricity. What does this mean? This was explained by energy and utilities expert Oleg Popenko.
In recent weeks, not only border regions but also areas in the center of the country have experienced power outages, raising serious concerns among experts ahead of the heating season.
"At the beginning of November, the Zhytomyr and Rivne regions completely lost power. Two weeks prior, Kherson along with Mykolaiv was also without electricity, and at the end of October, the Sumy and Poltava regions faced outages",- stated Popenko.
According to the expert, the situation is particularly critical in border areas, where attacks on the power grid are becoming increasingly frequent.
Zaporizhzhia is facing the most difficult situation, where local authorities are already warning of possible power outages lasting up to 20 hours a day.
"In Zaporizhzhia, authorities are sending a clear signal that you will be without electricity. We mentioned last year that as soon as the first strikes hit Zaporizhzhia, it was a harbinger of serious energy supply issues", - noted the expert.
Popenko added that the electrification of border regions requires a comprehensive approach, including the evacuation of residents from the most dangerous zones and the establishment of backup power supply systems.
It is important to note that due to the threat of new strikes on energy infrastructure, experts advise residents in all regions to prepare for potential power outages during the fall and winter periods.
