"Шахед" способен находиться в воздухе над Украиной более 24 часов, сообщают Воздушные силы.

Shahed-type drones can fly over Ukrainian territory for about 24 hours. To achieve this, the Russians reduce their payload.

According to RBK-Ukraine, this was stated by the spokesperson of the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Ilya Evlash, in an interview with the Center for Countering Disinformation.

"I personally saw how it flew for more than 24 hours. It circled over various nature reserves. They hunted it for a long time, but they were able to shoot down others. However, this can continue for quite a while, around 24 hours," Evlash said.

He noted that the "Shaheds" vary among themselves. Some of them have a smaller payload but a larger fuel tank. This affects the duration of their flights.

Evlash pointed out that in addition to "Shaheds," the Russians have their analogues and "dummy" drones. Their purpose is to exhaust Ukrainian air defense.

He also explained what the term "locational loss" means – it indicates that a drone may have crashed due to a poor assembly or electronic warfare, or simply because it ran out of fuel.

Attacks on Ukraine

Recently, Russia has adopted the practice of daily drone attacks on Ukrainian territory.

Earlier, we reported that during October, the Russian Federation used 2023 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) of the Shahed type and drones of unspecified types against Ukraine. This was the highest number recorded for the current year.

In August, September, and October 2024, Russia launched 4,300 strike drones against Ukraine. These included both Shahed drones and UAVs of other types mimicking real "Shaheds."
