The head of the Russian General Staff, General Valery Gerasimov, spoke with the Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Charles Brown. This was reported by The New York Times, according to UNN.

Details

It is noted that the phone call took place last Wednesday, specifically one day before Thanksgiving and six days after Russia launched a new medium-range ballistic missile at Ukraine, allegedly in response to the use of American and British weapons by our country to strike at Russia.

During the conversation, Gerasimov informed Charles that the launch of the ballistic missile "Oreshnik" had been planned long before the Biden administration agreed to allow Ukraine to strike military targets within Russian territory with ATACMS missiles.

General Brown's spokesperson, Captain Jerreal Dorsey, told reporters that "at Gerasimov's request, General Brown agreed not to announce the call in advance."

He added that global and regional security issues were discussed during the conversation, particularly the conflict in Ukraine.

Reminder

On November 21, 2024, Russian forces carried out an attack on Dnipro using an intercontinental ballistic missile launched from the Astrakhan region.

Subsequently, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, as quoted by Russian media, stated that Russia attacked Ukraine while testing the "latest" medium-range ballistic missile "Oreshnik."

British intelligence analyzed the Russian missile "Oreshnik," which was used in the strike on Dnipro. The missile, manufactured before 2019, is a variant of the RS-26 and carries 36 hypersonic submunitions.
