The Chinese vessel "Ang Yang-2" has encountered a disaster near Sakhalin. The cargo ship sustained a breach and ran aground close to the Russian port of Nevelsk.

This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing the Telegram channel Astra.

According to the Russian Emergencies Ministry, the distress signal was received on the night of February 9. The ship "Ang Yang-2" suffered a breach and grounded south of the port of Nevelsk. Russian sources indicate that there are 20 crew members on board.

As per Russian information, the cargo ship "Ang Yang-2" was transporting 56 tons of diesel fuel, 706 tons of fuel oil, and 1000 tons of coal.

The Russian Emergencies Ministry claims that no fuel leakage has been detected. Reports online suggest that it is still unclear how severe the breach is.

The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation has initiated an inquiry due to potential violations of maritime safety regulations.

Accidents Involving Russian Tankers

Recall that on December 15, two Russian tankers, "Volgoneft-212" and "Volgoneft-239," sank in the Kerch Strait. The cause of the accident was a severe storm.

Later, it was reported that another tanker had an accident near the port of "Kavkaz," resulting in a leak of at least 3000 tons of fuel oil into the sea. Oil slicks and fuel oil pollution were observed along the Black Sea coast.
