The current President of the United States, Joe Biden, reflected on his four-year tenure as head of state just days before Donald Trump's inauguration. In a 19-minute address from the Oval Office, the White House leader discussed various topics, including the war in Ukraine.
This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing CNN.
During his speech, the U.S. President dedicated a significant portion of his time to unveil a final warning about the direction he envisions for the American nation and cautioned against threats undermining the institutions he has respected for over 50 years.
Biden urged Americans to remain engaged in the democratic process amidst the "nationalist worldview" of the next, 47th President of the United States, Republican Trump.
According to him, it will take some time for his achievements in office to be fully recognized. Nonetheless, Biden expressed immense pride in the list of accomplishments he leaves behind.
At the same time, the 46th President of the United States called for patience in assessing his "legacy of restructuring and transformation."
"It takes time to feel the full impact of what we've done together. But the seeds have been sown, and they will grow and flourish for decades to come," he stated during his farewell in the Oval Office.
In his farewell speech, the American president briefly addressed the ongoing large-scale war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine. He noted Moscow's strategic failure in its attempt to destroy the Ukrainian state and its sovereignty.
"Ukraine is still free," Biden said.
He also mentioned that the U.S. has managed to "outpace our competitors with China and much more."
Among other things, Biden highlighted achievements in foreign policy and pointed out how he "strengthened NATO."
Additionally, he listed some accomplishments, including lowering prescription drug prices for seniors, passing gun safety laws, and assisting veterans in accessing medical care.
Biden also warned about the "great opportunities and risks" posed by artificial intelligence.
"In the age of artificial intelligence, it's more important than ever that people lead. And as a country of freedom, America, not China, must lead the world in the development of artificial intelligence," he added.
Recall that on January 13, during a speech at the State Department as part of his farewell address as President of the United States, Joe Biden emphasized that despite Russian dictator Vladimir Putin's claims of capturing Ukraine in three days, that did not happen. Biden added that the Kremlin leader never made it to Kyiv, while he did visit the heart of the Ukrainian capital.
"We united 50 countries in support of Ukraine, provided an extraordinary amount of ammunition, and implemented unprecedented sanctions to ensure Ukraine continues to fight," the U.S. President noted.
Furthermore, it was recently reported that Biden stated there is a real chance that Ukrainians can win the war against Russia.
