As long as there are debts, investors will not build new energy projects in Ukraine, according to a member of parliament.

The government is not motivating investors to develop new energy capacities and has long been neglecting the issue of outstanding debts to them. This has resulted in a lack of interest in participating in tenders for renewable energy projects.
Пока существуют задолженности, инвесторы не начнут развивать новую энергетику в Украине, - заявил народный депутат.

The government is not incentivizing investors to develop new energy capacities and has long failed to address the issue of debts owed to them, resulting in a lack of interest in participating in tenders for green energy construction.

This was stated by MP Alexey Goncharenko, as reported by RBK-Ukraine referencing his Telegram.

"The country critically lacks its own energy capacities. This cannot be compensated for by imports. And do you know what the problem is? That in the 2 years since the first energy attacks, the government has done nothing to use this time for building a new generation," he said.

According to him, since the full-scale Russian invasion, investors have only completed projects that were started earlier. Meanwhile, no new large-scale projects have been launched.

"On the contrary, existing investors in green energy are owed billions, and at every turn, the authorities try to deceive them," Goncharenko emphasized.

He cited the example that on October 31, the government failed the first "green" auction in Ukraine, which was supposed to attract new investors to renewable energy.

"They are not fools and see everything – no one will invest money only to be in debt for years. With such a policy, we will build nothing," the MP noted.

Earlier, experts predicted that the multibillion-dollar debts of GarPoka to green energy enterprises significantly diminish investor interest in participating in green auctions. The debt of the State Enterprise "Guaranteed Buyer" to renewable energy sources amounts to approximately 35.8 billion UAH.
