The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Keir Starmer, has dismissed Health Minister Andrew Gwynne. The reason for this decision was Gwynne's unethical messages sent via WhatsApp.
This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing Reuters.
Recently, The Mail on Sunday revealed that Gwynne had made sexist comments about Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner and racist remarks regarding Labour MP Diane Abbott, who is the first Black female MP for the Labour Party in the UK.
In another message, the official expressed a hope that a 72-year-old resident of Stockport, who had complained to a local MP about waste collection, would soon die.
Gwynne ultimately apologized for his unethical messages. However, Starmer dismissed him from his position as Health Minister, and the Labour Party suspended his membership.
"I deeply regret my reckless comments and apologize for any offense caused. I fully understand the decisions made by the Prime Minister and the party, and although I am deeply upset by my suspension, I will fully support them," Gwynne stated.
It is worth noting that in the summer of 2024, the Labour Party won the snap elections in Britain. The country’s government was led by Keir Starmer.
As Prime Minister of the UK, Starmer replaced Conservative Rishi Sunak, who had been in office from October 25, 2022, to July 5, 2024.
