The German defense company Rheinmetall is completing the construction of its second factory in Ukraine. The first factory was opened only recently.
This information was reported by RBK-Ukraine referencing a statement by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte at a press conference with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
Rutte noted that the German defense industry is crucial for the security of Europe and the defense of Ukraine.
In Bavaria, American and European companies, in collaboration with NATO, are producing 1,000 surface-to-air missiles for the Patriot air defense system at a new factory.
"The German arms company Rheinmetall has just opened its first factory in Ukraine, and a second factory will soon be constructed. Since 2022, Rheinmetall has significantly ramped up ammunition production," Rutte added.
According to him, NATO countries must accelerate production to ensure safety for a billion citizens.
"Therefore, we are enhancing support for Ukraine and working more closely with the European Union and other like-minded partners around the globe," the Secretary General stated.
Recall that at the end of October, Rheinmetall's director Armin Papperger announced that his company has opened the first factory in Ukraine. A total of four such factories will be built.
He specified that one of these factories will produce ammunition.
