Russia intended to carry out terrorist attacks on board civilian aircraft in Canada and the USA, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Russia has been testing the possibility of organizing terrorist attacks on passenger planes during their flights from Europe to the US and Canada. During the investigation, incendiary devices were discovered, and suspects were detained, The Wall Street Journal reports, UNN.

It is noted that Western intelligence agencies found two incendiary devices that were sent via DHL. They believe this was part of a covert operation by Russia aimed at provoking fires aboard commercial aircraft. Similar devices ignited in July at DHL logistics centers in Leipzig (Germany) and Birmingham (United Kingdom).
The organizers of the explosions in Germany and Britain were being sought throughout Europe. The National Prosecutor's Office of Poland detained four individuals and charged them with participating in sabotage or terrorist acts on behalf of a foreign intelligence service. Investigators have not disclosed their names or nationalities. The search continues for at least two more individuals involved.
The prosecutor's office confirmed that the purpose of the explosions was to test a channel for sending such packages, which were intended for shipment to the US and Canada.
In response to a request from The Wall Street Journal, the press secretary of Russian dictator Putin, Peskov, stated that the Kremlin had "never heard any official accusations" regarding Russia's involvement. He characterized the publication as "traditional unfounded insinuations from the media."
