U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio outlined the condition under which American President Donald Trump and his team would resume dialogue with Ukraine. Specifically, this will occur when Ukrainian officials are ready for peace.
This was reported by RBK-Ukraine, citing Rubio's interview with ABC News.
"We will be ready to resume cooperation when they are prepared to make peace... (The Ukrainian side - ed.) has been told multiple times that first, peace needs to be established, and then we can discuss security guarantees," said the U.S. Secretary of State.
He also mentioned that he has not spoken with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky or Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha since the Ukrainian delegation left Washington after their conversation with Trump.
Recall that in the same interview, the U.S. Secretary of State stated that the United States is trying to compel Russia to come to the negotiating table, and Trump is the only person who has a chance to make that happen. However, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reportedly is not giving diplomacy a chance.
