Ukraine hopes to open up to six negotiation clusters regarding the country's accession to the European Union this year. President Volodymyr Zelensky believes that the Polish and Danish presidencies of the EU Council can facilitate this process.
This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing the official online representation of the President of Ukraine.
During a meeting with the Ukrainian community in Warsaw, the head of state discussed, among other things, the issues related to the country's Eurointegration course.
The President's Office (OП) noted that Zelensky shared his expectations regarding the Polish presidency in the EU Council, which began on January 1 and will last for six months.
According to the head of state, during this time Ukraine hopes to open three negotiation clusters for EU accession.
"We understand that our Polish colleagues are ready for two, but we will do everything possible to open three. Then - Denmark (after Poland's presidency in the EU Council from January to June, the turn will pass to Denmark for a six-month period, from July to the end of December 2025, - ed.): we want to open three more clusters. But we'll see how it goes. We have an ambitious goal of opening 5-6 clusters," Zelensky said.
He added that "in principle" it is possible to open all of them this year "if it works out."
"We will strive to accomplish this," the president concluded.
Recall that on January 15, during a briefing with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, who is on an official visit to Warsaw, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated that the Polish presidency in the EU will break the deadlock that has developed in recent months regarding Ukraine's integration.
Earlier, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga stated that Kiev expects cooperation with Poland to promote the issue of Eurointegration.
Additionally, prior to this, Ukraine's Ambassador to Poland Vasyl Bodnar noted that Ukraine expects assistance from Warsaw in Eurointegration during its presidency in the EU Council. He emphasized that Ukraine values the expert assistance from the Polish side in training specialists.
