Ukraine and Lithuania have signed a memorandum for the joint production of drones, ammunition, and electronic warfare systems.
This was reported by RBK-Ukraine, citing Facebook from Ukraine's Defense Minister Rustem Umerov.
Umerov announced that Lithuania's Minister of National Defense, Laurynas Kasčiūnas, has arrived in Kyiv for a visit today.
"Together with my Lithuanian colleague and the Minister for Strategic Industries of Ukraine, Herman Smetanin, we signed a document aimed at bolstering our defenders on the battlefield: a Memorandum of Cooperation in the Defense Industry," wrote the Minister of Defense.
In particular, the Memorandum provides for the joint production of UAVs and components, ammunition and parts, electronic warfare systems, and the development of advanced technologies.
During the meeting, specific ways to deepen our cooperation were also discussed. Among the topics were plans for 2025 aimed at providing even greater military assistance to Ukraine.
Ukrainian intelligence representatives provided detailed information to their Lithuanian partners about the current situation on the front lines. The parties analyzed the Russians' plans for the fall and winter.
"Today we see how Russia is receiving assistance from dictatorial regimes, including the recruitment of manpower from North Korea. However, I am convinced that with reliable partners like Lithuania, we will overcome the aggressor," emphasized Umerov.
We remind you that in August, Lithuania announced a "significant" military aid package for Ukraine, which will include, among other things, short-range air defense systems, armored personnel carriers, and drone countermeasures.
Later, Lithuania's Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė stated that by the end of autumn, Lithuania plans to transfer more than 5,000 drones to Ukraine.
It was also recently reported that Lithuania plans to provide additional assistance to Ukraine amounting to 40-50 million euros by the end of the current year. Vilnius has already sent aid to Kyiv worth 153 million euros in 2024.
