The situation regarding the metapneumovirus detected in Ukraine is routine and fully under control. This is reported by the Public Health Center, as conveyed by UNN.

"In light of the information circulating about the metapneumovirus, we emphasize: the situation is routine and completely controllable," states the message from the Public Health Center on social media.
The Public Health Center noted that the metapneumovirus is a common virus that circulates in Ukraine during each epidemic season. The center provides weekly updates on this and other viruses relevant to the epidemic season.
"Symptoms of the metapneumovirus resemble those of a cold or mild cases of influenza: runny nose, cough, fever. Compared to illnesses like influenza, the metapneumovirus typically has a milder course and rarely leads to complications," informs the Public Health Center.

There have been 13 reported cases of metapneumovirus in Ukraine.
Olga Golubovskaya, head of the Department of Infectious Diseases at Bogomolets National Medical University, reported that human metapneumovirus (HMPV) causes illnesses of the upper and lower respiratory tracts, particularly among children, the elderly, and individuals with weakened immune systems.
