Details

According to data from the State Border Guard Service, this rise is primarily linked to the holidays on January 4-5, prior to the resumption of school, when the daily traffic peaked at 105,000-107,000 compared to just 26,000 on the first day of the year.

It was noted that the number of vehicles passing through the checkpoints also rose over the week, increasing from 93,000 to 117,000, while the flow of vehicles carrying humanitarian cargo grew from 418 to 442.

As of 09:00 on January 12, 2025, the State Border Guard Service reported that the highest concentration of vehicles leaving Ukraine was at the border with Slovakia:

at the checkpoint "Uzhhorod" - 25 passenger cars,

at the checkpoint "Uzhhorod" - 25 passenger cars,

at the checkpoint "Maly Berezny" - 15 cars.

Meanwhile, at all other borders, only small queues were observed at the checkpoints "Kosino" and "Tysa" at the Hungarian border - 10 and 6 cars, respectively, and at the checkpoint "Ustilug" at the Polish border - 10 cars.

The total figures for border crossings by people during the New Year week are higher than last year's: during a similar seven-day period last year, 278,000 individuals left Ukraine, while 229,000 entered, and the vehicle flow was 100,000. Last year, during this week, passenger traffic increased by 6.7%, while in the following week it fell by 14.8%.

Reminder

On Christmas Day, December 25, 2024, the border was crossed by 68,000 individuals, which is significantly lower compared to the previous days. Border guards noted the highest dynamics of passenger traffic during the state of martial law over the New Year holidays.
