Два жителя Харьковщины потерялись в горах, когда пытались незаконно перейти границу с Румынией.

Border guards from the "Bohdan" unit of the Mukachevo detachment, along with mountain rescuers from the State Emergency Service, found residents of the Kharkiv region who had gotten lost in the mountains yesterday just before midnight.

As reported by "Dumka," this information was shared by the State Border Guard Service.

According to the border guards, they received information from the Rakhiv district department of the State Emergency Service about individuals in the highlands who had lost their bearings and required assistance.

After nearly an hour and a half of joint search efforts, the border guards and rescuers located two men.

A 32-year-old resident of the Kharkiv region and his 21-year-old compatriot were attempting to illegally cross the border into Romania. They had independently charted a route through a mountainous section of the state border without any gear, food, or water supplies. The "travelers" set off on their journey dressed inappropriately for the weather and were freezing by the time they encountered the search group.

According to the offenders, they spent three days in the mountains, got lost, and decided to seek help from the rescuers.

The "mountain climbers" were taken to the Rakhiv Central District Hospital, where doctors diagnosed both of them with general hypothermia.

Protocols were drawn up regarding the administrative offenses committed by the men, as stipulated in Article 204-1 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses for "Illegal crossing or attempted illegal crossing of the state border of Ukraine."

The court will soon assess their actions.
