On Thursday, January 30, Israel announced that it had released 110 Palestinian prisoners. This was part of an agreement with Hamas regarding a ceasefire and the release of hostages.

This information was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing CNN.

According to a statement from the Israel Prison Service, all 110 prisoners were "transferred from several detention facilities across the country to the Ofer and Ketziot prisons" prior to their release.

Additionally, eight hostages captured by Hamas and other armed groups during the attacks on October 7, 2023, were also released on Thursday in Gaza. Among them were three Israelis and five Thai citizens.

It is worth noting that earlier on the same day, January 30, Israel had suspended the release of Palestinian prisoners. This decision was made due to the chaos during the transfer of Israeli hostages to the Red Cross.

Specifically, during the process, a crowd in Gaza surrounded the hostages as they were being led to the buses of the International Committee of the Red Cross. Furthermore, Palestinians were pushing the ICRC buses.

"This is yet another proof of the unimaginable cruelty of the terrorist organization Hamas," commented Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on the situation.
