Known for their piety and generosity, the couple had two sons, Arkadiy and Ioann, whom they sent to study in Beirut. During their journey, a shipwreck separated the family, and the sons were presumed lost at sea.

However, Arkadiy and Ioann survived and chose a monastic life. Later, during a pilgrimage, Ksenofont and Maria were reunited with their sons at the monastery. After this profound encounter, the couple also took monastic vows, dedicating the rest of their lives to serving God.

To honor this sacred day, it is believed that one should not:

Avoid gossip, cursing, and quarrels.

Refrain from cleaning the house, especially mopping the floors.

Do not remove protective amulets from your neck.

Additionally, January 26 is associated with various folk beliefs and weather forecasts:

A starry night predicts a bountiful flax harvest.
