On Saturday, January 25, North Korea conducted a test launch of a strategic cruise missile. The launch took place from underwater in the sea.
This information was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing the Central Telegraph Agency of Korea (CTAC).
The test was part of a plan for national defense capability aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of strategic deterrence against potential adversaries.
The missiles traveled along an oval and figure-eight trajectory for 1500 km within 7.507 to 7.511 seconds before hitting the target. It is claimed that the tests did not negatively impact the security of neighboring countries.
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un observed the launch, accompanied by Kim Chong Sik, a member of the Central Military Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, and Chang Chang Ha, head of the Missile Development Agency.
"We will continue to responsibly fulfill our important mission to protect lasting peace and stability," stated the North Korean leader.
Recall that on January 6, North Korea conducted a test of a new medium-range hypersonic ballistic missile. This was the first missile launch since November 5, coinciding with the visit to South Korea by then-serving, now former U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
