In Ukraine, military personnel currently receive the highest salaries. However, within the non-military sector, the IT industry continues to offer the most lucrative earnings.

This was shared by Yulia Zhovtiak, the director of the State Employment Service, in an interview with RBK-Ukraine.

When asked about who earns 100,000 hryvnias in Ukraine, Zhovtiak mentioned that military personnel are at the top. Among non-military enterprises, IT professionals still earn the most. There are also high salaries in the real estate, transportation, logistics, and HR sectors.

"High salaries are earned by equipment installers and CNC machine operators, with earnings reaching 80,000 to 100,000 hryvnias. Engineering professions start at a minimum of 100,000 hryvnias. Decent salaries can also be found in the agricultural sector," she explained.

According to her, this trend in salaries has been observed recently, linked to a decrease in the number of specialists, which forces businesses to raise wages.

She also believes that after the war concludes, a decrease in salaries should not be expected.

"Salaries will not fall because the laws of demographics and competition are always in effect. We cannot escape competition with our European neighbors. Over the next decade, salaries in Ukraine should increase while maintaining their current structure. For in-demand specialties, salaries will continue to rise," Zhovtiak stated.

She noted that regarding the employment of combat participants after returning from the war, a survey by the Ukrainian Veteran Fund indicates that 68% of current servicemen and those demobilized wish to become entrepreneurs.

"Last year, we opened 80 'Made in Ukraine' offices based on our district employment centers, where we advise citizens and businesses on all available options for loans, grants, various compensations, and personnel recruitment," she said.

In these centers, those interested in starting their own business receive assistance in drafting a business plan and recommendations at various stages of preparation and franchise launch. The first 'Made in Ukraine' office was opened in Sumy in March 2024. Today, they are already operating in almost all regional and district centers and in Kyiv.

Recall that we previously reported that in December 2024, the average salary in central government agencies in Ukraine was 79,800 hryvnias. Compared to January (38,600 hryvnias), the salary has more than doubled.

At the same time, the Cabinet of Ministers decided to reduce the maximum number of employees in six agencies. A total of 90 positions will be cut.
