Моди встретится с Трампом на следующей неделе, сообщает Bloomberg.

The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, has been invited to meet with U.S. President Donald Trump next week. They are set to meet in Washington, directly at the White House.

This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing Bloomberg.

The publication notes that earlier in January, Trump had also announced that he would host the Indian Prime Minister.

"I had a long conversation with him this morning; he will come to the White House next month, possibly in February," Trump told reporters.

Currently, a source from Bloomberg in the Oval Office has confirmed that the meeting will take place next week.

Meanwhile, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs has declined to comment on the meeting. However, last week, the ministry's spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, stated that "both sides are working on an upcoming visit by the Prime Minister to the U.S. to further deepen" their partnership.

While during Trump's first presidential term, the two leaders enjoyed warm relations, ties between their countries have since become strained.

At the end of last year, the U.S. Department of Justice announced bribery charges against Indian tycoon and Modi ally Gautam Adani. Additionally, the administration of former President Joe Biden accused an Indian official of attempting to orchestrate a foiled plot to assassinate an American citizen in New York.

However, in recent weeks, Modi has taken steps to prevent any clashes between the U.S. and India over trade issues, quickly making a series of concessions to the White House.

In recent developments, on Saturday, Modi's government presented the first-ever overhaul of its tariff regime, which included significant cuts in import duties on goods ranging from textiles to motorcycles. This follows New Delhi's promise to accept thousands of illegal migrants and maintain the dollar as its trade currency.

Bloomberg added that Modi will be among the first foreign leaders to visit the returning U.S. president.

Who Will Meet Trump First

It is worth noting that the first to meet with Donald Trump will be Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Their meeting is expected to take place today.

Before departing for Washington, Netanyahu announced that he would discuss with Trump the victory over Hamas, the release of all Israeli hostages, countering Iran, expanding diplomatic relations with Arab countries, and more.

Earlier, RBK-Ukraine reported that there was recent media information indicating that Trump will watch a documentary about the atrocities of Hamas committed on October 7, 2023, before meeting with Netanyahu.
