A 19-year-old Polish citizen, Filip Antosjak, was killed near Pokrovsk. He left his studies in the UK to join a Ukrainian drone strike unit as a volunteer.

This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing RMF24.

According to reports, Antosjak fought in the drone strike unit of the 25th Airborne Brigade.

His parents live in Britain. They stated that after completing his studies at Cambridge, he mentioned plans for a career in the British Army but later confessed that he went to Ukraine.

"He was very proud to be helping people here in this country. He always talked about it when he called us. In the first letter he wrote us after going to Ukraine, he apologized for telling us a lie for the first time in his life, and that was his plan. This is very hard for us, but we are proud of our son," said the father of the deceased volunteer.

On January 30, Filip Antosjak was honored at a farewell ceremony at the St. Michael's Golden-Domed Monastery in Kyiv, from where the procession moved to Independence Square. The ceremony featured the national anthems of Ukraine and Poland played in turn, and the coffin was draped with the flags of both countries.

His parents attended the farewell, along with representatives from the Polish consulate and various Polish organizations in Ukraine. They were presented with a posthumous award for Filip from the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Filip will be buried in the city of Łowicz in the Łódź Voivodeship.

Recall that in early January, the death of 26-year-old volunteer Jordan MacLachlan from Scotland was reported, who had been fighting for Ukraine since 2022.

Recently, it was reported that 30-year-old volunteer Richard S. from Austria died in the war in Ukraine.

In November 2024, 24-year-old Georgian volunteer Levan Lokhishvili and 22-year-old Brit Callum Tindal-Dreiler, who was a member of the International Legion, were killed.
