As a result of today’s shelling in Izium, Kharkiv region, 50 people were injured, including three children.
This was reported by the spokesperson for the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office, Dmitry Chubenko, as conveyed by "Dumka".
According to Chubenko, at 11:36, Russian forces struck the central street in Izium, specifically targeting a government building. The explosion resulted in the deaths of five individuals - three men and two women, aged between 40 and 70 years. A total of 40 people were injured, including three children: a six-year-old boy and two girls aged 14 and 16.
"The most severe injury was sustained by the 14-year-old girl, affecting her abdomen and shoulder. Most of the injured suffered shrapnel wounds from the missile and glass," he noted.
The explosion also damaged the facades of several multi-story residential buildings and private homes. Windows and glass were shattered in over 200 apartments and houses.
Additionally, employees of government agencies and local residents seeking services, particularly social protection, were among the injured. These were mainly individuals who were present or residing near the epicenter of the explosion.
It is likely that Russia used the "Iskander-M" ballistic missile. An "Air Alert" was already in effect at the time of the strike, but the impact occurred in less than a minute.
Recall that on February 4, Russian forces launched a ballistic strike on Izium in Kharkiv region, resulting in the deaths of five people. Among them were two women and two men. More than 40 people were injured, including three children. According to the mayor, a missile hit an administrative building, damaging another nearby administrative building and several residential high-rises.
