Recently, it was announced that the United States is halting various forms of foreign assistance to other countries. On Saturday, U.S. President Donald Trump officially confirmed that he has frozen foreign aid.
This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing a broadcast from "Voice of America".
Trump's confirmation came during his rally in Nevada.
"We want to lower prices. I have frozen hiring for federal government employees. I have frozen foreign aid," the U.S. President stated.
It is worth noting that a few days ago, media reports indicated that President Donald Trump signed an order to suspend all foreign aid programs for a period of 90 days. During this time, a review will be conducted to assess these programs' alignment with the political goals of the United States. As clarified by the Pentagon, this suspension does not affect military aid to Ukraine.
A few days later, on January 24, Western media reported that U.S. Secretary of State Mark Rubio halted the issuance of most existing foreign aid grants for 90 days. This included some humanitarian assistance for Ukraine.
Additionally, The New York Times reported that in the United States, several programs for accepting immigrants have been suspended. This also pertains to refugees from Ukraine.
