The National Armed Forces of Latvia have identified a vessel that may be involved in the damage to an underwater cable in the Baltic Sea. A patrol ship has been dispatched to the location.

This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing Delfi.

The Latvian Maritime Operations Center analyzed vessel movements in the area of the cable damage and discovered two additional ships that were outside of Latvia's territorial waters and exclusive zone.

Currently, the Latvian Navy has sent a patrol ship to investigate the vessel that may be linked to the incident.

The police have also informed NATO allies, including Sweden, about the incident and continue to share information regarding the situation.

Recall that on the morning of Sunday, January 26, a submarine fiber optic cable belonging to the "Latvian State Radio and Television Center" (LVRTC) was damaged in the Baltic Sea between Latvia and Sweden.

Later, Lithuania made a statement.

It is worth noting that in November of last year, damage to underwater cables was also recorded in the Baltic Sea.

There were suspicions of Russia's involvement in these actions; however, a week ago it became known that according to US and European intelligence, the damages to the underwater cables were the result of maritime accidents, rather than Russian sabotage.
