The Ministry of Economy has approved the list of passenger cars that will be subject to transportation tax in 2025. The luxury tax amounts to 25,000 hryvnias.
This information is reported by RBK-Ukraine citing the press service of the Ministry of Economy.
The list includes cars with engine displacement exceeding 2.5 liters. The manufacturing year of these vehicles is up to 5 years old.
Specifically, the list includes vehicles from brands such as Aston Martin, Audi, Bentley, BMW, Hymer-Mercedes, Ineos, Jaguar, Lamborghini, Land Rover, Lexus, Maserati, Mercedes-AMG, Mercedes-Benz, Mercedes-Maybach, Porsche, Rolls-Royce, and Toyota.
As noted in the announcement, the calculation of the average market value of passenger cars for transportation tax purposes is carried out in accordance with the Tax Code of Ukraine.
The transportation tax in Ukraine was introduced in 2015. It is levied on owners of expensive passenger vehicles that were manufactured no more than five years ago.
Transportation tax is imposed on passenger cars that are less than five years old and have a value exceeding 375 minimum wages. Considering that the minimum wage as of January 1, 2025, is set at 8,000 hryvnias, this amount for 2025 totals 3 million hryvnias. The tax rate is 25,000 hryvnias per vehicle.
The average market value of a passenger car is determined by the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine. This price is then adjusted using a coefficient that depends on the age of the vehicle: the older the vehicle, the lower the coefficient and, consequently, the lower the average market value.
Taxes are paid by individuals and legal entities, as well as non-residents who have registered a vehicle in Ukraine. It is the owners of the vehicles who are responsible for paying the tax, not renters or those using the car under a general power of attorney.
Individuals must pay the tax within 60 days after receiving a notification, while legal entities must make advance payments quarterly by the 30th of the month following the reporting quarter.
