According to Alexander Kharchenko, the director of the Center for Energy Research, the current energy situation in the country is stable. However, a drop in air temperature to -5 °C and below could lead to a return of electricity supply restrictions.
He emphasized that February may prove to be particularly challenging under such conditions. Despite this, the energy sector has reserves of equipment and strategies in place to manage potential challenges, including external threats.
Kharchenko also noted that Russian forces are targeting compressor stations and above-ground gas storage infrastructure. However, strikes on underground storage facilities located more than a kilometer deep remain impossible.
Despite the damage caused by these attacks, there have been no critical disruptions in the system's operation, and Russian military forces have not achieved significant breakthroughs in this regard.
