North Korea is preparing to detonate roads connecting it with South Korea. This could happen as soon as Monday, October 14.

This information was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing Yonhap.

According to the spokesperson for the Joint Chiefs of Staff of South Korea (JCS), Lee Sung-jun, the military has discovered that the DPRK is laying coverings along the roads in preparation for explosions.

"It is quite possible that (the explosions in North Korea) will occur today (October 14 - ed.)," he stated.

The spokesperson noted that North Korea may carry out detonations along inter-Korean roads or other provocative actions. However, he emphasized that South Korea will not engage in provocation and will deliver a "decisive response."

"If North Korea engages in provocation, we will respond decisively in terms of our right to self-defense," the military official declared.

Conflict Between the Koreas

The conflict between the DPRK and South Korea escalated last week. Pyongyang accused South Korea of drone launches. North Korea vowed to retaliate and stated that it would prepare "all means of attack."

The DPRK has blocked road and rail connections with South Korea. Additionally, Pyongyang has put its artillery on high alert at the border with South Korea.

Seoul, in turn, reacted strongly to the threats from the DPRK and warned of a decisive response.

The U.S. is sending Deputy Secretary of State Kurt Campbell to South Korea due to the threat of escalation of the conflict between the countries.
