French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot arrived in Kyiv on Saturday, October 19. This marks his first visit to Ukraine in this role.

This information was reported by RBK-Ukraine referencing Leparisien.

The French Foreign Minister is in Ukraine for a two-day visit. According to media reports, he has already met with the Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga.

The purpose of Barrot's visit is to reaffirm France's support for Ukraine, discuss a plan for Ukraine's victory, the situation on the front lines, and the living conditions of Ukrainians.

On the eve of his visit, the minister stated on French radio that he is going to Ukraine to "carry the voice of France, to remind that France will not turn away from any crisis."

"To say that the security of our continent, including food and energy security, is at stake in Ukraine," Barrot said before his trip.

It is worth noting that this is Jean-Noël Barrot's first visit to Kyiv as France's Foreign Minister. He took charge of the ministry in September when Prime Minister Michel Barnier formed a new French government.

Support for Ukraine from France

France is one of Ukraine's most active partners. It has provided military assistance to the Ukrainian army, including artillery, armored vehicles, missiles, and other weapons. Additionally, training for Ukrainian soldiers is taking place on French territory.

Earlier, it was announced in Paris that they may transfer Mirage 2000 fighter jets to Ukraine.

French President Emmanuel Macron has been advocating for the deployment of instructors to Ukraine. However, allies have yet to support this idea.
