The United States will provide Ukraine with at least four economic aid packages, totaling hundreds of millions of dollars.
This was stated by U.S. Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources Richard Verma, as reported by RBK-Ukraine citing Ukrinform.
During a speech at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, Verma announced each of the four packages.
"The Biden administration acknowledges that agriculture has been and will continue to be one of the cornerstone sectors of the Ukrainian economy," Verma stated.
In particular, the U.S. will allocate an additional $74.7 million to support export-oriented agriculture, enabling Ukrainian farmers and processors to participate more actively in the country's economic recovery.
Furthermore, the United States will provide over $223 million "for the restoration of transportation, infrastructure, and logistics." According to a State Department representative, this is necessary for the functioning of ports, railways, and other communications in Ukraine.
At the same time, the U.S. will direct $35 million to the Ukraine Recovery Trust Fund to support the establishment of an internal project preparation fund for the Ukrainian government, developed in collaboration with the World Bank. As Verma noted, these measures aim to ensure a more efficient recovery process through cooperation between the public and private sectors.
The U.S. Deputy Secretary also announced the provision of over $105 million for training and preparing Ukrainians who will be engaged in new jobs created as part of the recovery and production process.
It is worth noting that on Thursday, December 12, White House communications advisor John Kirby announced that President Joe Biden would announce a new military aid package for Ukraine, which is expected to include air defense systems and artillery.
