On the night of February 3, unidentified drones targeted several regions of Russia. In particular, a gas processing plant near Astrakhan was under attack.
This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing Telegram from Andrey Kovalenko, the head of the Center for Counteracting Disinformation.
"The Astrakhan gas processing plant has been attacked. It is one of the key energy facilities in Russia, responsible for the processing of gas condensate and the production of gasoline, diesel fuel, and more," the message states.
Kovalenko explained that this plant impacts Russia's military-industrial complex, as the fuel and energy sector serves as the primary source of funding for the defense industry.
It is noteworthy that Russians began reporting on the attack on the gas processing plant around three o'clock in the morning Kyiv time. In particular, they complained about the sounds of explosions and, at that moment, allegedly a fire.
Subsequently, the regional governor Igor Babushkin responded to the situation, confirming the UAV attack on the fuel and energy complex and the fire. However, he did not specify whether the fire was on the site itself. According to Babushkin, the attack was allegedly carried out by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
"Last night, the Ukrainian Armed Forces attempted a drone attack on facilities located in the region, particularly the fuel and energy complex. The electronic warfare and air defense systems operated normally. A fire broke out when one of the UAVs crashed. There are no casualties," the governor claimed.
We remind you that residents also reported explosions in Volgograd. According to local residents, unidentified drones attacked the oil refinery owned by "Lukoil." Additionally, after the attack, power was lost in several areas of the city.
The head of the CPD also reacted to these events. He noted that something is flying again towards the Volgograd oil refinery, which is among the top ten plants in Russia. Kovalenko emphasized the importance of this facility ceasing to produce gasoline, diesel, aviation fuel, and also supplying the Russian army.
