It has been revealed what caused the tragic explosion that killed a child in the Kharkiv region.

The police have initiated a criminal investigation into the death of a child in the Kharkiv region.

This was reported by the communication department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Kharkiv region, as conveyed by "Dumka".

According to the police, on the night of February 7, a report was received regarding the death of a child.

Officers determined that the parents woke up to the sound of an explosion in their son's room and found the child unresponsive.

Upon examining the boy's room, experts concluded that a detonator A670 for munitions had exploded.

Investigators have opened a criminal case under paragraph 2 of part 2 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, marked as "accidental death." They are currently trying to ascertain the origin of the ammunition. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.

As a reminder, in the village of Korotych in the Kharkiv region, a 10-year-old boy died as a result of an explosion.
