A couple from Kharkiv will face trial for luring women into prostitution.
This information comes from the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office, as reported by "Dumka".
According to the prosecutor's office, the woman sought out trusting girls who found themselves in difficult life situations to draw them into prostitution.
The woman conducted "interviews" with the girls, posted advertisements online, and communicated with clients.
The accused acted as a driver and bodyguard: he transported the girls to hotels or apartments where clients awaited them.
The man waited for the girls, provided security, and resolved conflicts with clients.
An hour with a girl cost from 3,000 UAH, and a night was 15,000 UAH.
The accused suspected a 24-year-old girl of allegedly providing sexual services and keeping all the "earnings" without informing him. The man began to threaten her with violence and physical retribution.
He took her to an apartment in Kharkiv, locked her in, and stated that she would now have to repay a "debt" of 17,000 UAH by continuing to engage in prostitution.
Law enforcement officials exposed the man and his partner. During searches, they discovered money, bank cards, phones, and computer equipment. Additionally, the partner was found to possess an F-1 hand grenade, which she illegally stored at home.
Now the 54-year-old man from Kharkiv and his 37-year-old girlfriend will stand trial. They are both charged with pimping, committed by a group of individuals in conspiracy and repeatedly (Part 2, Article 303 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
Additionally, the man is accused of human trafficking for the purpose of sexual exploitation using coercion and the vulnerable state of the individual (Part 1, Article 149 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
His girlfriend will also be tried for the acquisition and possession of military supplies without the required legal permission (Part 1, Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The man awaits trial in custody, while his girlfriend is under house arrest.
Prosecutors from the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office have submitted the indictment for consideration to the Moscow District Court of Kharkiv.
