В Харькове молодому мужчине, поджегшему отделение "Укрпочты", может грозить пожизненное заключение.

A young man will be tried in Kharkiv for acts of sabotage, having carried out a series of arson attacks by order.

This information was reported by the Kharkiv regional prosecutor's office, as conveyed by "Dumka".

According to the prosecutor's office, since the beginning of November 2024, an unemployed young man has committed a series of arson attacks on transformer substations located in the Saltivskyi district of Kharkiv, as well as on branches of "Ukrposhta". He filmed his actions on a mobile phone "for reporting purposes."

Law enforcement officials uncovered the arsonist. The man acted on the orders of a curator, whose identity is currently being established, likely a representative of Russian special services.

The young man was recruited remotely. He received detailed instructions from the curator via the "Telegram" messenger on how to proceed, coordinated which specific objects to set on fire, and discussed the terms of "cooperation." One of the payment conditions was the availability of video evidence confirming the successful completion of the task.

The young man received money from the "employer" into a cryptocurrency wallet specifically created for this purpose, and later converted it into hryvnias. For four arson incidents, the accused received nearly 150,000 UAH.

As a result of his actions, damages were inflicted on JSC "Ukrposhta," "Kharkivoblenergo," and KP "Horsvet."

One of the videos filmed by the accused was published on a Telegram channel with an anti-Ukrainian focus. The post accompanying the video, which showed the moment of the arson, included a manipulative caption urging to "burn and destroy all objects performing the tasks of forced mobilization."

The man will be tried in the Moskovskyi District Court of Kharkiv. The accused faces life imprisonment with property confiscation.
