In Kharkiv, police apprehended a man who stole a car in the Shevchenkivskyi district.
This was reported by the communication department of the Main Directorate of the National Police of Ukraine in the Kharkiv region, as conveyed by "Dumka."
According to law enforcement, a 49-year-old woman contacted the duty unit of the district police department. She stated that unknown individuals had stolen her Volkswagen vehicle.
In connection with this incident, investigators initiated a criminal proceeding under Part 1 of Article 289 (illegal acquisition of a vehicle) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The police identified the thief as a 29-year-old unemployed resident of Kharkiv.
The offender noticed a car parked outside a building on Klochkivska Street for an extended period. He called a tow truck and assured the driver that the vehicle belonged to him and that he had the necessary documents.
Subsequently, the car was towed to the address provided by the violator.
The police located and seized the vehicle belonging to the complainant. The 29-year-old man has now been informed of the suspicion regarding the aforementioned crime. He faces a potential prison sentence of up to 5 years.
