On the night of Friday, January 31, one of the largest oil refineries in the Russian region was attacked. The refinery is located in the Volgograd region.
As reported by RBK-Ukraine, this was confirmed by the head of the Center for Counteracting Disinformation, Andrey Kovalenko, in a Telegram post.
"The Volgograd oil refinery has been hit. It is one of the largest in Russia," Kovalenko wrote.
He also specified that the refinery's designed processing capacity is approximately 14 million tons of oil per year, making it the sixth largest refinery in Russia. The plant produces gasoline, diesel fuel, fuel oil, and aviation fuel.
Last night, residents reported explosions in the Volgograd region. The sounds of explosions, drone flyovers, and gunfire were heard around 3 a.m. local time.
Local residents claimed that unidentified drones allegedly attacked the refinery in the Krasnoarmeysky district, but there was also information about an attack on the "Lukoil" refinery, which is located directly in Volgograd.
Recall that on the night of January 29, Ukrainian forces attacked an oil refinery in the city of Kstovo in the Nizhny Novgorod region of Russia. The attack resulted in a significant fire.
Additionally, on January 30, a distribution station "Novozybkov" of the "Druzhba" pipeline in the Bryansk region may have been attacked.
